As well as supporting your long term plans, studying an art therapy course with us could improve your short term financial position.

How?

By providing you with a platform from which to sell your art work.

As an Art Therapy Now student you can set up a free commercial profile that enables you to share your work with prospective buyers.

This gives you the potential to earn while you learn, even if you have never picked up a pencil before starting the course or still don’t know the difference between oils and acrylic paints.

How Is This Possible?

Undertaking art therapy based courses is not about the finished product, it is about the process, about gaining greater understanding and insight into the self. However, by undertaking the process, often hidden talents are revealed in the finished piece. You may not discover your inner Picasso, but your finished piece may speak to someone in the way that art never has before.

At Art Therapy Now we see this more often than you may realise. Not only that but several previous students have been commissioned to create specific works based on the pieces they created and shared as part of their course.

One of the most recent examples of this, is that of one of our students; Helen Salter.  Helen was chosen by her classmates as the winner of our weekly community project, with her artwork titled “Perserverance”.    As a winner, Helen was interviewed and her artwork showcased on our website.  Within a couple of days, a private collector contacted her and purchased her winning piece!  You can see Helen’s artwork and read her interview by clicking here:  https://www.arttherapynow.com/helen-salter/

More Examples

Sue works in end of life care. She undertook one of our courses to help find new ways to help her clients through the process of accepting their diagnosis and dealing with the physical, mental, and emotional difficulties that are part of receiving a terminal diagnosis. She shared several pieces with other students as well as with her clients. Through this process others became interested not only in the courses she was taking but also in the work she was producing and the affect it was having on the clients that had seen it. As a result, she was asked to create further pieces that reflected her understanding of the end of life journey. Sue was not only paid for these pieces but got to share them with others in settings that worked in end of life care.

Michael undertook one of our courses to help him move into his chosen career in addiction support. He added the pieces to his online profile and placed photographs of the works in his portfolio. Not only was he successful in gaining the position he wanted but several of the pieces were purchased by the company and now adorn therapy and group work rooms at the centre where he works.

How Can You Benefit?

Selling your art work through Art Therapy Now is simple. Once you are enroled on one of our courses, you are given the opportunity to set up your commercial profile. Here you add a few details about yourself and your artwork. This might include the thought process behind each piece, what you were trying to achieve, and your thoughts on the final piece. These profiles are public, so they can be viewed by anyone. If a prospective buyer is interested in a specific piece or wants to commission something from one of our students they can make contact through the selling page, ensuring the safety and privacy of all involved.

Remember, this is an opportunity for people to not only see the finished product but to understand why you created it. Those looking at your art and considering buying it or commissioning further pieces are not looking for experts in art, they are looking for individuals that can convey meaning, express emotion, and develop the process in others. In short they are looking for amateur artists like you.
